Fall for boots, all things pumpkin, and even Halloween tricks, but not these 3 common beauty myths!

Beauty Myth #1: Wearing makeup every day is bad for your skin.

We’ve uncovered the beauty myth believing that you can’t wear makeup if you have a breakout, but what about wearing makeup every day? A lot of you probably wear make every day, and may feel the need to give your face a rest here and there. The truth of the matter is, it’s not the makeup that will do the damage to your skin, it’s forgetting to wash your makeup off your face that will! In fact, treatment makeup enhanced with skin perfecting ingredients can actually improve your skin’s appearance. As long as you cleanse every night, and choose non-comedogenic makeup, you’re in the clear.

Beauty Myth #2: You don’t’ need to wash your face in the morning.

So we know that cleansing at night is a must to remove makeup, dirt, and debris and prevent breakouts, but what about in the morning? Some of you may think this gives you an excuse to skip out on cleansing when you wake up. Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t the case. Our skin is constantly shedding, even while we sleep. Therefore in the morning it’s necessary to clean our skin to remove any dead skin cell build up for the night, as well as any oil/sweat build-up.

Beauty Myth #3: If you put on a moisturizer, you don’t need to use a serum.

To combat aging and have healthy and beautiful skin, moisturizing is an absolute must – especially as the weather gets colder and our skin gets drier! Since you’re using a moisturizer, you don’t need to use a serum then, right? Wrong! Serums and moisturizers, although both do help to hydrate the skin, actually work differently. Serums should be applied prior to a moisturizer, as they have a higher concentration of active ingredients and smaller molecules to penetrate the skin. Thus, they can provide strong results by penetrating nutrients as far as they can go into the skin. Moisturizers should be applied afterwards to hydrate the surface of your skin, and are especially important for aging skin, as natural lubrication slows down. Plus, moisturizers act as preventative care to help the skin from being de-hydrated.
