At Repêchage, we believe beautiful skin is a lifestyle – that includes your diet! Aside from treating your skin with the best botanicals from the earth and sea, beauty works from the inside out! Try these four foods that help create a beautiful complexion.

    1. Cucumber- Whether by themselves or added to a salad, cucumbers taste fresh and crisp in any state! Even better, they are extremely low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals, making cucumbers one of the healthiest and most nourishing foods from the ground. Plus, cucumbers are about 95% water, which makes them a wonderful way to hydrate! In addition, cucumber extract provides antioxidants, Vitamins E and Zinc, that can also help protect your eye area, and aid in healing your skin.

    2. Avocado – Sliced, used as a spread, or mashed up to make a great batch of guacamole, are some of the many great ways to consume avocados! Avocados are a source of healthy, non-saturated fats, are rich in fiber, high in Vitamins C, K, B6, and folic acid, and are low in carbohydrates and sugar. All these benefits make them a true super food! When extracted into avocado oil, our hair can really benefit, given it’s natural nourishing, moisturizing, and strengthening properties. For repairing and treating damaged hair, this oil is a natural ingredient that is great, and is why we’ve added it to our Hair Spa Seaweed Mask!

    3. Almonds- Like avocado, almonds are high in healthy fats but are also extremely rich in iron, magnesium, calcium, and proteins, which all help to build a strong a body and strong bones! Almonds are also extremely rich in essential nutrients for healthy skin, including Vitamin E. Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that provides a defense for our skin against UV rays. It also helps the skin retain its natural moisturizer. Eating foods like almonds, is one way to get our daily dosage.

    4. Salmon – Another food rich Vitamins B-6, B-12, magnesium, protein and “good fats” (omega-3 fatty acids) is salmon. Salmon is a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, which provide phenomenal health and skin benefits. For the one, they have been linked to lowering the risk of heart disease and increasing overall heart health. For the skin, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), one of the three types of omega-3 fatty acids, helps regulate oil production in your skin. This omega-3 fatty acid is only found in fish, like salmon, and helps your skin stay hydrated and not dry or flaky. Omega-3 fatty acids also act as an antioxidant, and prevent your skin from free radicals that can be formed from UV radiation. EPA, in particular, can help prevent the release of enzymes that destroy collagen, warding off sagging skin and wrinkles [source: Health Magazine] omega-3 fatty acids are also said to have anti-inflammatory properties, making salmon a great food to incorporate into your diet if you suffer from eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis.
