“Squeaky Clean” is great when it comes to bath tubs and kitchen counters, but when it comes to your skin, this can turn into a beauty blunder. Although it is important to cleanse your skin regularly to keep it clear of aging free radicals, pollution and your daily makeup, scrubbing until you’re red in the face (literally) will do more damage than good!
Let’s start by cleaning out your shower. If there is a bar of soap in there, we have a problem. Soaps and sulfates can strip the skin of its natural oils leaving your skin looking red and feeling itchy and irritated, especially the face. If you just can’t stand not having the lather of a soap, try a foaming cleanser like the Sea Cleanse® Foaming Seaweed Cleanser. It will give you that great sudsy effect without leaving your skin dry or taut. Plus, this soap-free cleanser has all the added benefits of soy protein, two select EcoCert Seaweeds, anti-oxidant green tea and refreshing grapefruit extract. You will feel fresh and clean without the risk of irritation and redness.
Now, let’s move on to technique. This is very important to make sure you are making the most of your facial cleanser! First, warm your cleanser in-between your fingertips and then, using gentle movements, start at the chin and move in upward and outward movements. The point of a cleanser is to lift debris off of your face, not rub it in – gentle is the key word here. When you are done cleansing, splash your face with water no less than six times to make sure you remove all of the cleanser from your face. Use a clean fresh towel, blot your face dry, again, don’t rub!
